Present: Sooty, Tim and George

What fantastic weather, lovely and warm (is this British caving?)

George kindly drove us up to Yorkshire (picking Tim up form the Mother-in-laws since he and the clan were “between houses”) and Sooty from Sootyland. The usual banter ensued and soon we were at Bull Pot Farm.  It was very unusual to have the sun on your back and the oversuit round you waist on the walk to the cave…

Good job it was dry as the entrance is right on the river bed.  It took a while once inside the cave to find the way on but after 20 minutes the hidden climb was found and we were sound at the restriction and then in the beautiful rift (fun with the tackle sack (that’s why Tim handed Sooty the Tackle bag and his SRT bag and buggered off leaving Sooty to struggle on his own. – no I’m not bitter,  whatever gave you that Idea?)).  The best bit was the pitch as it’s just a hole in the floor.

Quote of the day was from Sooty when George asked if his stop was on the rope correctly.

Sooty “of course it is, just go for it. Hang on, thinking about it, it’s on upside down!”

The pitch whilst short is very impressive to watch from the bottom as cavers appear through the hole in the roof.  The horizontal development was explored then the hole in the floor spotted.  Sooty went down and we were soon crawling along the continuation, Tim bottled it when it got tight so we all headed out and Sooty had fun trying to climb up the wrong bit a rift to the base if the pitch (we all thought we had had it at that time).
