Bar Pot to Gaping Gill  28th May 2005

Present: Sooty, Tim, Tony and George.

An early start saw all the cars in Clapham by 8-10am (with Tony breaking the world speed record between Ingleton and Clapham in the company Volvo).

I particular enjoyed the ride in Tony’s boot from the New Inn to the parking space – 400 yards WOOF WOOF

We worked as a unit in our preparation – Tony walked up in full kit, George in full kit plus bag (with ripping straps – god knows how it survived the walk) and Sooty and Tim with full rucksacks.

We all had a good laugh as George went from white to pink to red to crimson as he heated up…. Tony got sweaty nads…

Well over an hour later to arrived at Gaping Gill to be confronted by an hour and a half wait, good luck we all had our SRT gear (except Tim and, on Tim’s advice, Tony).

Back

The bloke in the Bradford tent directed us to Bar Pot and we had a pleasant abseil

into the system, particularly enjoying the top of the first pitch.  Tony and Sooty enjoyed watching George abseil….

We admired the mud formations (put a photo in here Sooty!!!) and headed away from the main chamber to explore….

Nice caving soon saw us back at Bar pot and on via a crawl to Sand Cavern (we are submitting an application to the lottery funding for conveyor belts to be installed in all crawls)…

Some more nice caving soon saw us in the main chamber with Tony awe struck for several minutes at

the sight (another photo please Mr. Sutton..). (Sorry Tim, they came out too dark)

We then headed towards Mud Hall (George pointed out that the queue was only six people at the time!).
