County Pot – 12 March 2006
Cavers: Sooty, Paul and Tim
Near miss : George
Film maker: Graham
Here’s the weather forecast for the North of England “extreme snow storms and gales”
Sod it lets go caving!
Graham videoed Sooty and Tim aka the clowns cocking up putting the gear in the back of the Passat.
Then off to Ingleton where we met up with George and Paul for some brekkie in Bernies.
Graham filmed us putting gear into a “typical” cavers van (George’s £40k Lexus 4x4 !)
Then Tim dumped his car in the Marton Arms car park after some interesting sliding
and skidding en-
Sooty enjoyed helping Graham get in Volvo up to Bull Pot in the snow.
Paul tried out Georges “snow” button…
Then the main event – changing in the snow (“Let’s use the hut” said George, “we’re not soft for the camera” was Tim’s idiot reply!)
So after freezing our nuts off in the snow we attempted the walk in the blizzard.
George bailed out only the find back at his car that Tim still had his keys so off he trotted to get lost on the moors for 2 hours!
The rest battled through the pain of the ice bullets in the faces and had a great trip.
All straight forward and eventually found Poetic Justice which was climbed by Paul with the help of Tim’s and Sooty’s shoulders.
Down the second pitch and some of Cathy’s lovely butties.
Then to stop pot and onto 4 ways.
Some interesting squeezes on the way out and a nice walk back in the snow.
Beer and food at Marton arms.
Quote of the day: “I think we’re past it” – Paul
Report by Tim
p.s. The Passat’s rear window fell in the day after – shattering over the back seat – don’t use warm water on my frozen window’s again Sooty!
I didn’t defrost your back window, only the front, therefore not my fault. Maybe
you should have got the broken hinge fixed -
