Pool Sink - 14 January 2007

Cavers: Tim, Tony and George

Another flood in the dales left a question mark over the planned trip the Pool Sink.

However we decided to “go for it”.

Tim had a chance to off-road at Bull Pot farm and George complained about have to change beside the cars – poor lamb (it was only a grade 3 change).

A walk across the moors and the “pool” looked normal. The flood marks on the entrance crawl concerned Tim but Tony forced us in and George enjoyed the acute bends in the entrance series (NOT! – with comments such as “am I supposed to bring my knee round this bend with me?”).

We managed all 4 pitches with one rope having 1 metre to spare (Paul would be proud).

As a break after the first pitch we visited magpie grotto – very nice.

At the start of the duck George sat it out while Tim bravely (with some encouragement from Tony, who had a wetsuit on, unlike Tim) tackled the duck with the helmet off. GREAT FUN!!!

Then we hitched onto someone else’s trip to Easter Grotto – nice roped climb.

Back out with much cursing from George due to the top of the pitches and not helped by Tim not realising that his watch was 1 hour fast. The walk back was very long and Tim fell into the bog…

Trip duration = 6 hours.

No time for pub so straight home…
