Flood entrance
Sat 19 May 2007
Cavers: Paul (the knife) Humpries, Tim (I’ll hold the car key) Hallam, George (I’m crap at SRT) Goodfellow, Tony (not a fan of George) Wells and Richard (neither am I) Sutton.
All was well – we met up in Clapham with Tony the usual 20 minutes late (although we did hear the car 5 minutes before he arrived).
A pleasant walk up to cave and after a few failed attempts to find the entrance, we descended Flood Entrance, a cracking cave with lovely pitches. Then the fun began with George getting stuck on the big pitch for 2 hours and Sooty and Tony having to fend off angry Bradford members…
Paul prusikked up the line and handed George a penknife. A swift a cut of the cowstails (once Paul was back at the bottom) saw George swinging across the main shaft and smashing off the wall.
The exit:
Tony and Sooty – Flood Entrance
George – main shaft on the winch
Paul and Tim – up Stream Passage Pot (3 x 30m prussiks)
Out of the cave at 7pm (8.5 hour trip!).
Then off to the New Inn for pints and pool.
Tim
p.s. just noticed that George Goodfellow = GG = Gaping Ghyll !!!
