Mistral
6th October 2007
Present: Tim, George, Pete Barr and Liam Barr.
Liam fancied caving as a “treat” for his 14th birthday so “Uncle” Tim agreed to a trip.
Unfortunately Sooty was in Spain, Paul was in the Lakes/under his floor boards and Tony was called away to be at the birth of his first child (possible the best excuse of the 3 !!!(Noooo! Crap excuse, you’ve changed Tony)).
The plan was Wretched Rabbit to Pool sink. First we met up in Inglesport and had trouble parking due to the Ingelton Folk festival !!!. Mrs Goodfellow dropped GG off after she attempted an Ingelsport flapjack (which beat her due to be being like a brick..). A very warm walk over the moors saw us at Wretched Rabbit but Tim was unable to insert himself into the entrance…(easier coming out of it!!!).
So we headed down to Mistral and enjoyed a trip to the Hall of Ten.
Pete Barr didn’t enjoy the entrance crawl (unlike his son who is a budding caver…). Upon emerging from the entrance series Pete wanted to go back but his son (and Tim) wouldn’t allow that!
Soon we were in the Hobbit and looking at the large stal. The rest of the cave was fun for all except Pete loosing a knee pad and thinking of the crawl out of the exit!!!
Once out of the cave we had drunk all the water and got very thirsty on the hot walk back to the car.
A couple of drinks at the Marton Arms in the beer garden in the sun soon saw us recovered…
Tim
p.s. Tony and Ashleigh had a beautiful baby boy the day after…..HURRAY!!!! The next generation of MUGS cavers has begun…
